West Bulls Carvery

I'm studying at the university, and come here with my housemates nearly every week. It certainly helps fill a void, as we all miss the roast dinners from our respective homes! To be honest I'm surprised at some of the negative things said, admittedly we have been twice to find it wasn't on, and other times we have not had all 3 meats available (though we dont normally eat until about 8:30). But at the same time, the food is always very nice, and always hot (hence complaints about it being cold are very surprising!). At £3.59, its an absolute bargain and means we are guaranteed one decent meal a week! The waitresses in the restaurant are always friendly and do a great job, most notably Laura and Alex (I think that's their names!). Their is always a good atmosphere about the place, and the quiz night on Thursday is always good fun.
We went to West Bull in December 2009 , the food was really horrible over cooked mess with no taste, and the place was very poorly lit and dirty including the mother and baby toilet and changing area a very disapointing visit.
Just been today with a 7 year and 1 year old a very hungry friend and husband. And I must say everybody's needs have been excellently matched. The food was so plentiful and delicious with the Brussels sprouts perfect and everything else was delicious as well. We were there at 2pm and the place was full but it kept filling up and by 4pm the place was positively buzzing which must say something!
Not eaten in here for some time and see that the reviews have not changed, the last time i had a carvery in here the only thing keeping the meal warm was the gravy.
I see some things still have not changed. Which is a shame because the pub was once my local pub.
brilliant value for money, the only downside is the bar staff as you come in, scruffy and very gobby.
very bad first impression of the place. the management should sack them.
Landlord has no personality, his staff are rude and in the 3 occasions we have been this year for a meal they have closed the carvery twice due to no meat been prepared, and the 3rd visit they only had beef.
We came for our meal with my grandaughter who is 11 and ate at 845pm at 930pm we where told we had to leave as we had moved out of the dining area by a very rude member of staff.
