This year the start of late night shopping coincides with the switch on of the Christmas lights. Hull city centre will then become a winter wonderland all the way through the festive holidays and into 2010.

Christmas Shopping
Thursday is the night for late night Christmas shopping in Hull, and all the big shops and stores will stay open until 9pm every Thursday night from the switch on of the Christmas lights. Hull shops will be full of gift ideas and the extended opening hours means that you can take your time after work and not leave it all until the last minute.

Radio Stars
A strong line-up has been announced for the switch on of the Christmas lights. Hull radio listeners will be familiar with Viking FM’s Paul Foster and Rosie Madison, whilst Magic 1161’s breakfast host Darren Lethem will also be on hand to keep things running smoothly.

Santa’s Sack
Santa is joining the Lord Mayor to turn on the Christmas lights. Hull carol singers also have the opportunity to show off their skills in a singing competition as the very popular Caroloke returns and will be broadcast on a big screen.

Head down at 5pm, Thursday 19th November 2009 for the switch on of the Christmas lights. Hull Queen Victoria Square will host the lights until January 2010.
